My '04 Prius has 200k miles, a rusty body, and the engine is ill. I've replaced it with a '17 Prime and now I'm trying to figure out what to do with the '04. I had the traction battery replaced by the dealer at 160kmiles and it may have value to someone. It cost over 3k$ installed (I still have the paperwork) and if I could get $500 I'd be happy. Any thoughts on how to find this battery a new home?

Posting here is a good start. The biggest cost to the battery is shipping. So you're going to want to find other people in the NY area (guessing based on profile) who want it. It's not really economical to send it to California for example.

I am reading your post as in your going to junk the car but take the battery out before you do. But if you actually mean you want to sell the whole car with a new battery, then any used car site will work. In January you could probably get $1k to $1.5k for the car easily. Today, no idea but probably substantially less.

Not in the market myself, but the age or date of purchase of that battery will be of specific interest to any buyer.

Thanks for all the suggestions! Shipping sounds costly and too much trouble. I am 10 miles from Saranac Lake Priusyipee, good guess! Ebay or CL makes sense, I've got the receipt for the install from Della Toyota in Plattsburgh. I just got an offer from Peddle (on line old car buyer) for $710, I'd rather sell it to a fellow Prius owner in need of a good traction battery. Thanks again!

Excellent! I am still running my '05 with 372,000 miles everyday to and from Lk Placid. 100+ miles round trip Original hybrid battery but getting quite rusty. Engine runs great. Glad to found a buyer!

500 for a 60k mile battery is a decent deal, hope it found a friendly home.
