Never seen this before but my turn signals work but on the instrument cluster the left turn arrow does not illuminate. Anyone know if that is a bulb or led or could there be another way to energize that indicator?

Any other symptoms? First time I've read of a dash light going out. They aren't something you normally replace like a burnt out light bulb? Maybe disconnect 12v for a few mintues (reboot computers) and then try other methods to see if you can get light on again, perhaps the hazard button?

In Gen 1, they're incandescent bulbs that can burn out. They're in little twist-to-remove sockets so you can change them.

In Gen 3, they're LEDs, and really shouldn't burn out.

So which are they in Gen 2? I've never been back there in a Gen 2.

It’s not part of the cluster electronic display. It in the part of the dash that has CEL ABS etc. does not look easy to get at. May wait until the dash needs work

I disconnected both connectors from the 12v and let it sit. Reconnecting did not change it. Light does not come on

car is new to me and has some codes for the 3 way coolant control valve and I believe I also need an abs pump

I think it's part of the "meter circuit plate" PNC 83247. the illustration doesn't show any separate bulbs, so it's probably LED in Gen 2.

Meter for Toyota Prius NHW20 - Genuine parts

The prices shown seem to be links that go to amayama for ordering.

I doubt it is very difficult to get to, after taking the dash top off. :) That's a tedious job but not rocket science.

A person would probably want to check the wiring and confirm the signal is reaching the circuit plate, before deciding the circuit plate is at fault.

Thanks. That is hard to picture from the diagram. Maybe next time I am in the junkyard trolling I will look into the dash parts

While working on the dash to replace some vent panels I considered digging into the turn signal indicator. I shined a flashlight and saw that door open and brake are also on that panel and none light.

Is there anyone that has a wiring diagram that shows the left turn signal indicator? I would still have to continue to remove the dash but for now the harness connector is exposed and could be used for some testing. Thanks

You can use to the search function to find out how to get a copy of the factory service manual which has full wiring diagrams. There's a short term subscription to Toyota TIS. Also you can find different pdf versions on the web.

If multiple indicators don't work, then you would want to look for a connector that's not fully seated. Could be between the led board and the main CM board. Screenshot_20231226-113134.jpeg

I suspect that the two ribbon cables in all of the repair videos I have watched connect the cluster to those panels with the turn signal indicators. My plan is to remove the dash and see if the previous owner had a repair made to the dash capacitors and verify that the ribbon cables are pushed in and locked.

Just as I suspected. The ribbon cable was not locked into place. I am going to dig further to see if the cluster was repaired. Definitely someone was in there doing some work

Thankfully it did have the capacitor repair so one thing I don’t have to worry about. Dash is back in and all lights are working. The installer rushed through the assembly it seems

I replaced the capacitor today and didn't snap the white plug on the side of the board all the way in again. Now I first check if everything is working before putting everything back together.

I would definitely check the instrument cluster as soon as the dash top is in place and those two harness connections are connected

I wanted to avoid pulling the vent covers any more than I needed as one broke apart in my hand
