Meat is bad for us anyway so outlaw it's consumption, kill them all and capture the methane from decomposition to fuel our vehicles. California currently has a bill in committee under study addressing this. As a society we need to reset our priorities and if we don't do it ourselves, the government should force us to. Sorry...couldn't resist.
Not outlaw, REDUCE. Gidon Eshel, a geophysicist at the Bard Center, and Pamela A. Martin, an assistant professor of geophysics at the University of Chicago, calculated that if Americans were to reduce meat consumption by just 20 percent it would be as if we all switched from a standard sedan — a Camry, say — to the ultra-efficient Prius.
"Using steam and heat" Where did the energy used to create the steam and heat come from? How much energy did it take to get the hydrogen out of the manure? I'm still on the It's bullshit side.
No. Chickens take up less land and use fewer resources than cows to reach weight. Can't say how much it is less bad than cows, but look at it this way, you can raise chickens in a small yard. Fish are the most efficient at converting feed into meat, but there are other issues.
that's true, we have a lot of small organic chicken farms in the area, and a number of people have them in their backyard. fish is once or twice a week for us. i suppose it's impossible to feed 400 million people, carbon free, but as tart green says, if we just cut back a little.
