Did family members or friends buy a prius after you bought one??

I told a co-worker (friend) that i was buying one, and to look on Craigslist. She got all excited and started looking in to it. We both bought our new Priuses the next day! July 14th, 2006, We both found our cars on Craigslist and purchased them new from different San Francisco Bay Area Toyota dealerships.

 

My daughter bought one when she got a great job after she graduated from college. This was about March of 2004. About a month later she had us switch cars for a week because she wanted me to see how great this car was.

So I had her 2004 Prius for my travels for about 10 days. She had my 4WD Impreza. That Impreza was the first brand new car I ever bought in my life. You see, it never made financial sense to me to buy something brand new. So I always bought 4 or 5 year old cars that got great ratings in Consumer Reports reliabilty ratings. Then I'd drive them till they were no longer driveable.

When I took her Prius, I had zero plans to even consider buying another brand new car.

Well, on or about the 4th day of that trade, I drove that Prius to the Toyota dealer and put $1000 down for my own. I took possesion 4 months later. I now have 35,000 miles on the car.

In retrospect, buying the Impreza was a financial mistake. It was a fun car, but I lost a lot of money on it. And I regret that money loss. Buying the Prius was the best car I've ever gotten. Now maybe I've lost even more money on the Prius but I don't give one whit about the money. That's because this Prius is so fun to drive, and yes, maybe I like the smugness quotient -> Global warming and Arab oil and all that. And I'm even including the BMW 325 I had back in the early 90s.

I love my Prius.

(I expect to eventually save tons of money on this car. But my point is that money was a concern with the Impreza, but it's not with the Prius. Global warming and dependence on foreign oil were on my mind with this car, but not the cost.)

Yes And I also told him that I was not getting a tax credit for the car this year after sept 30 (from the dealers).... But he told me I would. Thanx bro!!!!!!

 

Two of my co- workers have done just that after rides in my Prius! In fact Prii are TNTC in our parking lot!

 

My sister had party and some of her friends asked me about my Prius. A few months later they bought one. They're very happy with it. She'd love to have one but can't afford a new car right now. (She's got two boys entering college soon, currently Junior and Senior in High School. Nope...she and her husband did NOT save up for their college education. Now she's wondering how to pay for it. They make too much money to plead poverty and they're white. Grades are good but not stunning. Talented in Sports but not wildly outstanding.)

If the redesigned 2009 Prius is attractive enough (gray interior, there's a dark blue exterior choice and lithium Ion batteries and plug in option) I'll be upgrading. My sister bought my last car. It's possible she may buy my current Prius when I decide to upgrade. If not, I guess I'll just trade it in.

I'm trying to steer my parents to a Cambrid when they decide to dump their Caddy.

 

I have a silver 2004 and my sister has a driftwood 2006.

 

My son has a silver 2005.
I have a silver 2006.
My brother has a green 2006.
We all have package #7 but I believe #7 was called something else for the 2005's.

 

My brother replaced his totaled RX-7 with a Prius a couple of months after I got mine. From the sound of it he might have paid nearly as much for a used, off rental, package 0 as I did for a package 9!

Both my wife and son want Priuses, and I have had several friends indicate thay would consider a hybrid for their next car.

 

I got mine earlier this year... My grandparents got the camry hybrid when it became available (all i can ever remember my grandfather driving is a camry), and right now my mom's looking into the Prius...

 

i sold 4 prius to 4 of my friends and now my cousin is getting a hybrid camry this week

 

My mom is still trying to convince my dad that they need one.

My Brother purchased one and a close friend also purchased one (although my friend already had plans to buy b4 I got mine).

 

Yep, most of my friends either want one and can't afford it now, or are plannig to buy one.

Only about 1 out of 10 do I find someone that just doesn't like it or have a need for it.

 

We have had two colleagues who have stated intentions to get one, just waiting on saving up money or paying off the other car. Lots of people said they wished they could be one.

 

As an early 2004 buyer, almost everyone bought their Prius after I did. Including the great majority of PC members. Ha ha.

 

I bought my Prius in April and talked a co-worker into buying one just a month ago.

As it turned out (since these are on allocation and NOT pre-order), he wound up buying the same color (Barcelona Red) and package #5 as my Prius.

What a small world!

 

LOL ... well, I bought one after my sister bought one. And I just got a phonecall from my dad that he has just placed an order for a 2007 Prius. We're a 3 Prius (Preui?) family. :-D
