Sounds like Dianne is saying remaining PiP inventory is selling fast.
This suggests Toyota did indeed stop making PiP1 as planned in June, and they may not have made too many extras, in consideration of the extended green HOV sticker availability since then. PiP1 new will soon be unobtainium.

interesting theory, since the prius team claimed there would be plenty until gen IV comes out. if there aren't any for some months, it might drive the used price up.

Just a theory: may be those quoted are available on lots at the moment.

Doesn't every car manufacturer have like a huge storage area at the port where there are a ton of cars sitting there waiting to be distributed or allocated? (Re: the "plenty" comment)

you would think so. don't know the details of how many are in japan waiting to come over and how many are here in port. pip sales are so low, i don't know how much space you would need to get through the next 16 months.

    Dianne,

    2 questions:

Does the $27,999 purchase price include destination charge (or is that additional)?

36 month Lease: What is the buy out after end of lease?

    Thanks in advance.

Ask Dianne about future PiP outlook if you get a chance.
But if I were in the market, sounds like this is the time to pick up an under-appreciated classic Plug_in Lite.

There have been no more Plug Ins built or shipped in about 6 weeks. This model's over.
It's not coming back for 2016. It may show back up in 2017 models BUT by then. there won't be any green decals left for it, as those will be done gone & over with. I worry about the future of this model in CA, frankly, for those of us who commute, but I can't focus on the future at this point... my self-appointed job is to impart the things I know, share a few things I worry about and make sure you're not caught unaware. If you planned to wait till the last minute, OK but don't expect huge savings deals as these dry up.

If you need this car to commute and want green decals on a Prius NEW, don't wait. There won't be more allocated, and there's no secret holding lot anywhere. Honest.

Lease residuals change now, depending on actual MSRP but the average residual is 16024 - 16346. (at 12K annual) That now depends on color and mats etc.
My pricing always includes destination. I'm a no-surprises girl. I don't like 'em any more than you do.

I can only surmise that they said that a while back not knowing how fast they would sell out. They don't have a crystal ball, honey.

...my theory is the extension of CA green HOV stickers (which happened after Toyota announced PiP stoppage) has quickly sucked up the extra PiPs which might have otherwise hung around all year unsold. If Toyota was smart <probably are> they could have anticipated the possible extension of HOV in CA, but they'd probably rather have PiP sell out than hang around forever if the HOV were not extended.

I am also jealous Dianne called Bisco honey

darling WJTracy ... I agree with you but for two things? No one expect the last (and final) extension of the green stickers but there are SO many factors to it. DOT, CVRP and legislators... and of course, TFS' high incentives on this model would be cut if the models were cut eh?

I'm curious as to how Diane is still able to obtain green HOV stickers for vehicles without assigned license plates. Or perhaps, more curious as to why Tesla claims they cannot obtain white HOV stickers for their VIN-assigned vehicles.

Stuck in the mainline till my plates come, then (reportedly) another TWO MONTHS for DMV to send white stickers. Something smells wrong about this.

Someone can help me, but since about Jan_2014 CA has allowed auto dealers to get the HOV stickers in advance for the vehicles before sale. I can't answer why Tesla is not able to do so.
