I hope someone has a list of what the dealer is supposed to do BEFORE delivering a brand new car fresh off the boat. The reason I ask is I am beginning to think my dealer cut a few corners. I already went back because the 12V battery needed topping up - something I vaguely remember from my student days. Now I got the air pressure low warning on the driver front wheel. When checking I discovered all the wheels have too low pressure and inconsistently so. Yesterday I put everything at the right pressure and today they are still at the same values so hopefully there are no leaks.

Now I want to check what the dealer should have checked just in case ...

At least I figured out what that storage unit between the two front seats is for. I now have an tyre pressure tester and a jump start thingy - can this really be happening with the most reliable brand on the market?

Ha ha, yes. What other things would you check yourself if you were wondering about the quality of the pre-delivery service?

As I recall, there was a check list I recieved from the dealer when I picked up my 2024 PP XSE. Funny thing about it was that all the check boxes were premarked with a check mark before the sales person got the list. All he had to do was add his name and it was done. Someone else posted this tidbit of info to this BB right after I got my car. I think there is a similar check list when you get the car maintenance service done handled in the same way.

I used the search function but no check list came up. It would be great if someone could post a photo, else I will have to ask the dealer which is a bit confrontational.

They accommodated my request to take delivery a day earlier and I think they skipped some stuff. The battery needed topping up (necessitating a call out and jump leads) and the air pressures were wrong I am now confident.

I set the pressures myself a few days ago and they are unchanged after a few days and a couple of hundred miles motoring so they must have been wrong when I took delivery. Amazingly I did not notice until I got the warning - the Toyota driving corrections are truly impressive.

Often the dealers fail to reduce the pressure from the higher-than-normal amount used for ship and train transit.

Odd to see one wrong the other way.

Reliability has nothing to do with dealer prep or lack thereof.

Thanks for your input. On the front tyres one was 2,4 Bar (Correct) and the other 1.8 which triggered the alarm. On the rear tyres both were the same (around 1.8 I think) and I had to add quite a lot to get them up to 2.3. Sorry for the imprecision but I was on my knees in the rain waiting tor the bell to ring. It has been cold here recently and so that might explain a bar or two.

Not sure I understand your remark about dealer reliability. I rely on my dealer to keep me safe and check/correct what needs checking. Perhaps I am too naive.

Here are the three checklists. There is a general checklist for all Toyota models, a Prius HEV specific checklist, and a Prius PHEV specific checklist. I used the 2023 checklists, but the 2024 and 2025 ones are the same.
