Maita toyota in Sacramento shows 19 Prius' in inventory. I think other dealers in the area also have them.

That seems to be a growing problem. When I got online quotes from a half-dozen local dealers, not one of them had the car I wanted (Barcelona red/package#2) and some of them didn't even have a Prius to test drive. The dealer I selected searched within a 300 mile radius for two weeks and finally located one they had to have shipped in for me to purchase.

If you find a good sales agent, they'll keep looking until they find the one you want.

Well, they're flying off the lots. Can you say "reactive
panic"? If you wanted to buy a big-nice person truck, now would be
    the time!

When we bought our Prius in 2006, the wait was several months, more if you had very specific needs. With current gas prices you shouldn't expect anything else.

I bought my 2007 there from Mehdi Raza. I found the experience completely painless.

Supply and demand. Every dealer around me is sold out, and two dealers are taking orders for a two-week wait list. I wonder if the Toyota Prius manufacturing plant is running 24/7 right now. I wonder if the have a daytime shift and a night-time shift. I saw a pre-owned Prius on Yahoo autos the other day for $39,000. LOL!!! It was fully loaded, with carpool stickers, and they were hoping some rich person would buy it not for efficiency but to "be cool."

BE CAREFUL!!! The Prius market has become very volatile! There are a lot of price variances! Make sure you don't get ripped off.

    Hi Addie,

Do not worry about it. Try to find out who has inbound allocations that are not bought yet. I bought my car when it was in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. It was the same situation in early 2006.

Addie, locate a dealer(s) you want to work with. Each region of the country should have a few cars out there, and dealers will make trades between themselves (not so easy nowadays). Or, order the car you want and prepare to wait. (I know it's un-American not to have immediate gratification, but it can be done.) The car will be shipped, as was noted, via boat from Japan, and you will be notified when it arrives.

Hint: the less you specify (color, package), the better chance you will move up the list of waiting customers. But if you have specifics in mind, insist on them.

Here in Minneapolis the wait seems to be about six weeks or so. We were added to a list last month and now there are over 25 people below us on the list. We're finally supposed to get delivery of our mag.gray pkg#8 the second or third week of June. We put a $500 deposit down on the car back in April and Toyota has since bumped the price of the Prius by $400. Am I unreasonable thinking I shouldn't have to pay the $400 since they didn't have the car when we were ready to buy back in April? Hmm. Of course, I'd rather just get the car and not play games.

Only paid $24.3 for my pkg 5, I could make a tidy profit!!!

If you're willing to look anywhere in CA, NV or AZ, then the extreme southwest corner of Utah should be in your range. The local dealer in St. George (Stanger Toyota) website shows two available with package 2. The URL for their website is Stanger Toyota in St. George, UT, Utah Toyota dealer serving Las Vegas Toyota dealer Cedar City Toyota dealer Utah Toyota dealer

Just got my 2008 Barsolona Red with beige leather #5. Took 5 weeks. Dealer said 8 to 10 week wait right now. Got lucky. Got exactly what I wanted.
Nothing on the lots in Dallas/Fort Worth area. Dealers here are marking up a thousand dollars over msrp and call it some stuipid name but its a markup none the less. Used the Costco vehicle and saved $800.00.

I had a 3 month wait to get a loaded red one in Aug of 06. Might get to that due to the price of gas now.

Dealers around here are saying 8-12 weeks or even 3-4 months ... I have searched and searched all around the country and it's hard for me to find what I want ANYWHERE. I'd have a shorter wait out west, but not sure I want to go that far to get one ... especially if I have a trade-in :) Be glad you have a short wait rather than the long one I face.

Same deal back in '06. Went to carsdirect.com, listed my options, and they found a car the same day, at a dealer 50 miles away. The only concession was, color. Not a big deal. Wanted blue, got white, wrote the check, and was on the road in less than an hour. Give it a try, and you might have to be flexible with colors and options, but you will find a car.
