Greetings everyone. I recently obtained my dealers license and am able to take anyone to auction for a small fee. If anyone would like a specific Prius or vehicle I can look them up in the run lists and save you at least a couple thousand on the car.

You can typically buy a return warranty at the auction as well, so if theres something you don't like about the car it can be returned for a refund. If anyone is interested, please respond or send message with the vehicle model, year(s), your regional market (nearest major city) and any other specific requests or requirements if any. I will respond with the current available listings, recent sales prices and condition reports.

This works well primarily for the newer models that are predominately trouble free. The older models tend to be more seasoned and are generally sold as is only, not necessarily something you want to deal with for a car that you can't test drive before buying. There is an option of reselling the car at auction to recover money spent if the vehicle does not suit your specific needs.

I am in the northeast Florida region, however I am registered to bid at auctions across the United States. This is helpful because if you buy a car in Florida under my Florida dealers license, I am legally required to assign title, register the vehicle in your name and collect and remit sales taxes. If anyone buys a car outside of the state of Florida, I am not required to complete any additional paperwork on your behalf, so that you receive the title without having to pay sales taxes or file any additional paperwork in advance.

Good luck to all of you in your pursuit of a Prius, and happy shopping!

It depends on what you're looking for and where you're located. I specialize in hybrids so I'm already aware of what is coming up for sale. From a dealers perspective, its much easier to arrange a sale than it is to buy a car that will sit on the lot for weeks and wait for a buyer. Its more profitable to me to charge $200 for one days work buying a car, than to buy it for 2-3 thousand less than the value of the car and wait around for someone to buy it.

Obviously not every deal is a good deal, which is why it wouldn't be worth it if an auction car approaches the price of a local car. Typically however, there are plenty of newer Priuses available at auction, and yes even nearly new ones. These easily go for $3,000 under market value.

I've always bought cars based on value, and I've always purchased my personal cars undervalued, and sold them for what I paid or more. Same concept here. A value based strategy for the value minded consumer.

Do regional pricing differences make opportunistic local auction purchase plus cost of shipping to New Yawk a cost-effective solution? Do you also arrange shipping? Thx.

That is subjective, would you like to own a vehicle that has never seen snow? Pretty much anything from NY is going to be rusted out within 10 years, but here are your local auction prices (NJ auction)

I get that. (Although that said, and although it may be an exception, our 2012 Prius v shows no signs of corrosion at all.)

My objective is an up to 3 year old, up to 40000 mile, high trim level Prius hatchback (non-PIP).

My questions are whether pricing outside the snow belt plus cost of shipping to New Yawk is a cost-effective solution and do you arrange shipping?

    Thx.

    From FL:

    CarsArrive Transport Info
    Standard Transport: $853
    Estimated Delivery: 5 - 9 days

If you wanted to pay the transport for a southern car, I could deliver it personally for $600.

The personal delivery offer is very fair, in fact, a bargain. How do prices vary, FL vs. let's say northeast (NY/NJ/PA)?

That is hard to say really, the larger markets offer the greatest selection, so theoretically better prices; however a much rougher environment, potholes, salted roads, big cities with alot of short cold drives etc. The southern markets such as orlando and miami aren't subjected to such a typically harsh environment and may go for less or more depending on the availability and current demand. Right now demand is pretty high in florida as it is tourist season, tax return season, spring break coming up etc, everyone is pretty flush here going into the spring.

Thanks. The need isn't immediate; more like July-August for the returning student.

September-October are the biggest dip months. Summer stays fairly elevated price wise.

Hello. I am in the market for a Prius in the Chicago area. I live in the suburbs of Chicago. I would be interested potentially in a 2010-2012, if that's new enough to be relatively safe at auction, if that is possible. Anything II and above for trim level would probably work; blue, silver preferred. Is there somewhere I can look online to learn more about how this works, such as how the return warranty works and how much it costs? I would think hybrids in the Florida market might have battery issues due to heat? Thanks for offer.

Most of the dealer information is pretty shielded, you can't get into any of the professional websites without having obtained licensing and passwords.

Every auction house is a little bit different, but typically a car less than 10 years old with under 100k that has a clean history will be sold as a "green light" vehicle, implying that it its sold without defect and may be returned. This is automatically included on the newer cars.

I currently have 2 native florida priuses, an 08 and an 09, both with 200,000 miles. Neither one has ever had any battery issues. I've seen the northern cars of similar years, and I'd take a rust free southern car over a northern car anyday.
