Dealer-added fog lights

You'll need a new lower grill with the foglight opening cost less than $100 and the foglights about $80 if you do it yourself.

 

Why not tell the dealer to get off his arse and ship the car you want from where ever in the country it is? He's trying to push his own inventory on you, but you can get one from anywhere.

 

It's not as simple as adding fogs to the 2010-11, but it's significantly cheaper if you do it yourself or take it to a local shop.

Tekjunke, that's good to know. Could you enlighten us on how you installed them. A picture or two would also speak volumes. I too would like to add fogs to my 2013, but I'm not willing to spend a ton. Any info would be great. Thanks

 

if it's a 10 or 11, adding the fogs will be easy since it's replacing the part where the turn signal is located.


12 and up is a little more involved.

The install was a bit involved, it took 4-5hrs working carefully and slowly. All of the install docs can be found on Juiced Hybrid.

(Do yourself a favor while you have the front bumper cover off, replace the horns too)

Why people? I found the fogs useless, and don't look that good. They make the front end of the car look like a catfish.

I can see on the 10/11, they fill the gray matter in the turn signal housing, but on the 12+, a bumper cover w/o the fogs look cleaner.

As a side note, the 12+ use 19W fog bulbs, talk about useless...

 

I thought about putting fogs on mine...after I put the HID's on, don't even need them.

 

The kit I purchased had H11 bulbs installed. I replaced with yellow piaa bulbs to help with out torential rain here in So Fla. They are almost too bright to drive with on a regular basis so I only use them for rain.

You paid $300 for a kit with H11 halogen bulbs?

I thought they were HID based on the price. Man you got ripped. Shouldn't have to pay more than a little over $100 for halogen foglight kit, maybe even $50.

But it comes with the new lower grill for the retrofitting, doesn't it? If so, that needs to be factored in and wouldn't be as cheap as $50.

 

ouch!!! I paid $35 for mine from hidextra (50% special at the time) with a 55w ballast.

 

But that was just the bulbs and ballasts, right? Not the foglight housings and shrouds?

that's correct. I had contemplated on adding the fogs. After I put the HID's on, I didn't feel the need to add it. I did have a 2011 w/ fogs, and I could notice the difference w/ and w/o the fogs. Then when I got the 12, same thing until I put the HID's. These HID's are brighter than the factory HID on my Z06.

Also, I do agree with the comment above that the fog light placement is not very functional. I felt that the 10/11 placement was more useful.

 

The kit that I ordered had a Toyota factory lower grill, Toyota factory housings, aftermarket wiring harness, aftermarket switch, relay, hardware.

I priced out the items separately, it was close to the $285 I paid.

The fogs are low to the ground, but they are ridiculously bright and make quite a large difference on dark roads around here. I guess I need to try to take some pictures to get my point across...

 

Not sure if this kit includes the lower grill, but it says everything needed is included. It doesn't even have a picture of the correct 2012/2013 model:

But it is genuine Toyota parts, same as port/dealer installed. Price is $100 less than what was paid above.
