as you are in the driver's seat, you will see your hood release lever, depending on how big your fingers are, it is roughly 3-4 fingers to the right of the hood release and about an inch down... Sorry, I suck at describing things.. These are actual pics I just took for this post, I own a 2002 as well. If I am understanding you correctly, the white connector is what you are looking for.
