I've been through half a dozen cheap dashcams, rather than 'risk' buying another one.. I decided to try a different route. I'm using a Reolink WiFi doorbell... I tried using a Reolink battery camera but it wouldn't record motion properly as it only is triggered by PIR and a few other weaknesses (that could easily be resolved with firmware updates but.... ).

This model camera uses <~3Watts, 9v-24v DC, loop recording, live stream-able, offsite recordable(Connect to home wifi or phone hotspot when on road) and can much more easily access footage. If I was confident(not in 75mph driving in rain) in the waterproof rating I would be tempted to install it on front of car on the toyota emblem.

I can power on or off while car is 'off' powered through vanity light/mirror-switch; Rotate it to capture interactions with anyone at window.

That big clip holding the camera doesn't actually obstruct anything in the drives seat; but one could also get a handless clamp.

Thinking of getting another for rear, roof mounted 360 camera might be interesting inside and or out! hmm..

I guess if you're headed out to first amendment auditing school or something might be a thing personally I I don't know I can't be bothered wasting lots of my time recording lots of nothingness.

They say if your a good driver get a dashcam, if your a bad driver, don't... hehe... Thing is you never know when your going to get hit so the continuous(or 'all motion') recording is a must. The power control with mirror 'switch' is handy and can function as a(nother) home security camera where-ever your parked. It would be a way to 2-way communicate with someone in the car/highway if set to connect to cellular hotspot or under any previously known WiFI in range. Catch car burglars etc is quite possible with something that has automatic remote/offsite storage. You could also be giving them a camera to steal(why cheaper is better)...

I am installing these in a modified supplementary powered Prius , so one should 'do the math' vs their battery capacity on just how much they could leave this on with car 'off'.

One of the features I like over my other dashcams is the timeline interface of a network camera to view footage...

With ability to view from comfort of home computer/phone not swapping SD cards. Blue line at bottom is where motion was recorded, slide mouse/finger to observe that time(auto plays).

I guess you live in a very high crime area and all of that sort of thing where I live and work and go and all that my remotes never leave the slot of the car like never I don't travel in my cars to places like New York City in Baltimore and DC and all that I generally fly to those places so no worries for crime against my vehicles or anything like that so doing all of this would be Mike moot where I am if there's an accident I'm a driving an '09 Prius and nobody cares you know other than the tow truck driver getting the vehicle to my address be no cameras needed my car is ancient and the car that's involved with me in the accident doesn't matter what it is probably their fault anyway even if they say it isn't I'll wait I have a record in a history that proves generally otherwise of course when you're you know a lot younger you may not have all those things I've had a guy hit me and tried to collect and all that and it was hysterical I think he got in trouble for insurance fraud
