Interesting concept, though I'd like a tad more user reviews and company info before I jump (sold and shipped by FiTCAMX brand store, not Amazon).

The fact that you can’t download video after the vehicle turns off is a big no-no for me. If you are in an accident and lose power then it’s worthless.

looks pretty intriguing. I might get this. I had a camera in my 2020 Prime that had to be stuck to the windshield, which was very difficult to remove when I sold it. It is a good camera but I've resisted putting it in my '21 Prime because of the need to stick it to the glass, and because I really don't want to pry things off to route the cable, especially around the airbags. I just had the cable up over the passenger visor and down behind the passenger seat, which got frustrating rather quickly.
It looks like the microSD card can be removed from the side? So you can easily retrieve videos from it once the power is off.

I don't see a button to lock important/interesting video clips to prevent them from getting overwritten.

Edit: Ah, I do see it in Mendel's video! It wasn't apparent in other videos or in the images on the product page.

I was vacillating as to order or wait for more feedback but ultimately was intrigued enough to place an order. The unit ships from China and is not expected to arrive for 2 to 4 weeks (if even that).

I futzed around with the existing cover behind the mirror to determine how much of a hassle it might present... the verdict: looks uncomplicated and should be a relatively easy install (famous last words?).

I also ordered one last weekend. Still waiting for tracking to update, but I expect it to be here before Thanksgiving at least.

I really love its design. But I will wait for more review on Amazon or from members of our forum.

after 2+ weeks, mine finally arrived. Installation was pretty straightforward, really the only difficult part was stuffing the wires into the plastic cover. I really had to bend and stuff them to get them in; I just hope that I didn't do any damage to any wires by bending them so much. Everything seems to be working fine though.
Camera quality seems acceptable, probably not as good as the Viofo a129 but good enough to read license plates. I haven't tested it in low light or after sunset. It looks OEM, it's a perfect fit and match for the Prius Prime.
Edit: forgot to mention that I wish it had GPS included, to enable precise locations and speed. That really is my only complaint.

Mine was delivered this morning and I decided to plonk it in before our Thanksgiving guests arrived (my lovely wife wanted me out from underfoot, anyways ). Installation was a breeze taking less than 30 minutes from start to finish, using this video as a guide, with 10 minutes of that to load and familiarize myself with the app.

I am impressed, as it is very well thought out and made, looking like an OEM factory install. I was going to include pics of the install and completed assembly, but that would be redundant given all the info already available about this setup.

As GSK mentioned above, only GPS is lacking from this terrific setup. Given the ease of installation and OEM appearance, I heartily recommend it to anyone in the market for a DYI dash cam.

PS: Only a modest amount of expertise is needed. If you can open and re-close a pickle jar with no more than YouTube assistance, you should have no trouble installing this kit. :)

I installed one in my BMW today. It was a little more involved because of the limited space and lack of visibility. It really helped having a second person. It was helpful when installing the wires for the other person to hold the unit so it was not hanging by the wires.

I am very happy with the appearance and it seems to be working fine. It took me 45 minutes to an hour for the installation. I was being very careful not to break anything. As a trips to the BMW dealer are always very expensive.

mine has been working perfectly so far, except for one issue. In low light, lights seem to be washed out no matter how much I tweak the exposure settings. Hopefully I can fix this as some road signs and license plates look almost unreadable in some of my night footage.

I've been thinking about putting one in my Prime Limited. I presume installation is the same for that?

I just installed mine and the rear camera needs to be mirrored on x axis so far the support hasn’t been very good

I was unaware Fitcamx has a Prius Prime camera kit that offers a rear camera?!?

Ordered it from Fitcamx and got an email asking to confirm whether or not the cover had vents. Took a picture and replied. Got a response the next morning and the unit two days later. Installed it this morning, which took about 15 minutes. The hardest part was putting the new cover in place.

The only gripe was the instructions. First off, there were no instructions on physically installing it. I used the YouTube review on this thread for that. The instructions supplied were about the app and the buttons. It said that pressing the Photo button for 20 seconds would reset the system. It did not tell me how to take a photo (easy to figure out, but still).

I pulled the card out and looked at the video. Very nice. We'll see how it does.
