My 2017 Prius Prime Advanced has so many features (I wanted the HUD, so Toyota bundled it with EVERYTHING!) that I use only a small percentage of them. Some features just make no sense, except to annoy and distract the driver.
Case in point: The proximity sensors do a good thing to sense cars, people, or objects nearby, stopping or slowing the car (or alerting the driver), if necessary. The BAD PART of this feature involves virtually incessant dashboard (visual) notifications whenever the sensor picks up or drops out a car or other object. Driving in traffic - where you need the sensors most - results in (totally unnecessary and useless and distracting and annoying) proximity sensor pings to the dashboard screen. To clear them (they time out in a ridiculously long 3-5 seconds), you need to press the close button (lower right on steering wheel). So, now I drive with my right thumb permanently on the close button.
Advanced features exist to HELP THE DRIVER not distract the driver. If I don't need or want a feature, I should have the option of turning it off without losing a feature I want and use (proximity sensor controlling car in potentially unsafe situations).
How do I permanently turn this useless, unnecessary, distracting "feature" OFF?

Parking Assist and ICS settings are accessible through the 4.2" MID on the right. (Just scroll left/right, using the steering wheel directional pad to the Settings menu, then scroll up/down to the ICS and Parking Assist settings to turn on/off).

Also, the parking assist only works at low speed. If you're seeing them all the time in traffic, either the sensors aren't working (triggering when they're not supposed to), you're stopping too close to the car in front of you, or you're in NYC and people just walk around your car all the time.

You're right. I had same concerns. Fortunately, got used to it and now am doing fine.

Can someone show me a photo of the dashboard proximity notifications? I don't know if I have ever seen it on my car. I am assuming it only happens on Ltd or Advanced trims with Parking Assist and ICS, correct? I disabled ALL pop-up warnings except the Battery Cooler function warning on my car.

I may be wrong, but I believe we are talking about the screen circled in blue. 2021-10-08 (1).png

That's a DRCC distance warning. I see that often when I am using DRCC on highway, but no other time. Since, I use DRCC very rarely only when I am on the interstate traveling, it does not bother me much.

You can permanently shut that little reminder screen off.

You can also change the sensitivity of the parking sensors.. And I think you can shut the parking sensors off permanently.
