Dash Board blackout

    My toyota Prius 2004 dash board black out. No km or speedometer show on screen. MFD is working. I disconnect battery and replug it start working and on next start have same problem. I talk to my friend he think my screen need to replace any new sugestion or solution.

    Are you sure the dimmer switch isn't all the way down??

    If it isn't, then yeah you probably have a faulty screen or wire or something.

    Are you completely sure that the rheostat isn't cranked all the way down? The dinner switch is to the left of the steering wheel on the dash behind the headlights stalk.

    Third moderator in a row...your dimmer is turned to the "off" position.

    sorry guy it is not a switch problem. If it is a switch problem then why start working as I disconnect battery and replug. any other suggestion.

    Check for Something Blocking your Projector Cover

    I had this problem last year when car park attendant's ticket slid down my dash and covered the clear projector cover (that's when I discovered my display was actually a mirror reflection of a projected image). I removed the ticket and it was lights on again.
    I hope your problem is as easy to fix.

    last evening I had an envelope slide across the dash and cover the speedometer reflection which momentarily blacked out the speed. Since our speed is but a reflection, it very well could be something has fallen into the opening and is not allowing your display to "display" !!

    The blocked mirror hypothesis also don't seem to fit the disconnecting the battery makes it work again for 1 cycle symptom...

    Thanks finally trip to mechanic make it work. They replace my console and it work perfect and cost me $500

    Tony99: just for future reference, what did the mechanic find as the cause of your problem?
