    Hi guys,

I read the "Not all HID Bulbs are created equal" thread from top to bottom. Great information, but one question remains:

Are D2R and D4R bulbs interchangeable? My D2R's are going out in my 2005 Prius, and my dealership has Phillips D4R's for a far better price than "factory" (assuming Phillips) D2R's. Are these a good solution?

I've also found both available on Home Depot's website. Thoughts on Home Depot's trustworthiness? I know that Amazon is dicey because you're never quite sure of the bulb's origin.

Thanks for any and all advice!

The biggest difference between the D1/D2 and D3/D4 bulbs is that D3 and
D4 bulbs are NON mercury versions of D1's and D2's and require less energy to
turn on, it's said they'll need new ballasts to be used. You CANNOT replace a D3 bulb with a D1 bulb or replace a D4 bulb with a D2 bulb! They will physically fit, but the bulb, ballast or both will be damaged when you turn it on.
