I have a '17 Prius prime,I get roughly 20-30 miles pure EV,Hoping SOMEONE has a larger battery option.I love my car,I filled up last time June 15ish. Have 1/4 tank left now.I run to Chambersburg(about 30 miles away) a few times, but 99% of my driving is less than 20 miles!Any ideas??
Volt? Telsa? Bolt? Though if 99% of your driving is within your Prime's EV range, I would suggest that you are set as is.
The Prius Prime is one of the most efficient cars in both electric and gas: 25 kWh / 100 mi 1.9 gal / 100 mi Others come close but not both. Sure my BMW i3-REx has more EV range but 2.6 gal / 100 mi is more expensive. Bob Wilson
Agree, primes,AWESOME, no complaints, just curious if ANYONES done a longer lasting battery,to F with Exxon 48224"]Volt? Telsa? Bolt? Though if 99% of your driving is within your Prime's EV range, I would suggest that you are set as is.[/QUOTE]
no, there are no options for a larger battery. sorry, that's not how the ev world works. you buy the car with the range you desire. it would be too expensive to have battery options.
Didn't at one time, Telsa offered three battery ranges, you get more if you pay more. But the physical battery was the same, The software would only allow you to use what you payed for.
Ty,all I wanted to know, AGAIN, I'm pumped with how less I go to pump, curiosity bc I know Exxon,ect... has big $$ in keeping plug in EV'S quiet
No mention of the Leaf? With a $30k price and 160 mile range, the 2018 Leaf is a BEV that would suit my needs and fit in my budget. Needless to say, however, I'll be sticking with my Prime for quite a while.
When you add a bigger battery, you have to have a plan to charge it. Most additional batteries for past prius needed a separate wall charger. (If you somehow got more electric range, your gas would age in the tank, oli would get moisture, etc.)
