At a recent meeting, I shared that Full Self Driving handled a 1,700 mi trip to Starbase and two, 400 mi trips to Atlanta nearly perfectly. I was trying to point out this recent technology doesn't enable drinking and driving but makes it less dangerous to the driver and others on the road. Then came these comments:
    • "I don't need a car that picks me up and puts me in bed."
    • "Not appropriate subject."
I felt like Johnathan Livingston Seagull getting push back from the flock. I was hoping for some interest, at least curiosity. Well lessons learned.

I joined that fellowship to learn and share techniques. I also offered that I'd given my two year medallion as thanks to my minister, the postmaster for my letters to God. I explained that I don't need 'things' as the lessons learned are written in my heart. . . . <CRICKETS>

Between banishment by the flock and lessons learned, Johnathon accepted his exile. Although he missed the flock, he was now free to satisfy his curiosity.

Guess I won't be going back. Lessons learned and where I'm going, they don't want to know.

religion requires close mindedness. unfortunately, it tends to creep into other areas of life.

One of my very favorite shows is, "The Chosen" - depicting the life of Christ. That show's topic came up with an older couple we occasionally have dinner with. The wife was shocked because one of the outsourced camera crews had a rainbow flag on his video supplies (seen during back stage show casing). Similarly outsourced - some of the studio time in Utah is owned / leased out from the morman church. They refuse to even consider watching it because of stuff like this. My comment to them was, "does it shock you to think some of your grocery store clerks may be gay &/or that the drivers of the 18 wheeler rigs that deliver produce may be trannies or mormans or illegals? Didn't Christ spend time with the 'sinners' of which we all are, but for His redeeming grace?
About that time, their eyes glazed over. But, we're all still friends, despite e/other's short comings.
