Hello everyone - Thanks so much for all your comments and guidance on this forum! I was chatting with a Crutchfield adviser yesterday and he/she said the following when I asked about putting a 5-channel amp in my 2004 Prius. -------------------------- "According to our research file on the Prius, due to the hybrid system electronics, it is never recommended to install an amp that exceeds a 30A current draw or 350 watts RMS total power rating." -------------------------- Has anyone put in an amplifier >350 watts RMS without otherwise beefing up the electronics to support it? Thanks in advance!
I've had an 800 watt Kenwood amp mounted in the trunk storage compartment for over 2 years now, with no problems or dash/lights dimming. I also have the Optima yellow top conversion, but that was done a year after I had the amp installed.
900W in a GEN III. Just power it off the 12V battery (fused) with switched on circuit just like the radio. PS - 900w RMS as in HD900/5 - Car Audio - Amplifiers - HD - JL Audio frodoz Stereo Upgrade | PriusChat
