Cruise control

This occurs when your speed is below 25mph, it is not affected by the set speed.

See page 309 in the owners manual (2017 may be different in others).

It's to do with how the radar tracks vehicles. When a vehicle turns off a fast road, it will gradually move out of the field of view of the radar, and it can spot this and it understands where the vehicle went. When a vehicle turns off at lower speeds, it tends to disappear from the field of view far more quickly (e.g. turning at rightangles to you). The radar can't track that as easily, so it loses track of the vehicle, and has no idea what happened to it. As it isn't certain it's safe, it defers control back to the human.

 

I set my cruse control the other day and the screen went light blue , i redid it and the same thing . I checked the settings and they were correct and tryed it again and light blue again , next morning i drove it and set cruse and showed two bards at bottom and has been ok now .

What gives here , you do not want to know how my wipers have been working of late [ disastor is best explanation if they work at all ] heck i had one day turning onto the highway and it wanted to just keep on turning i did some quick thinking to get it to straighten out on the road and now i have a vibration in the front end

 

Which screen are you referring to which went light blue? Are you referring to "ECO MODE" blue background colouring?

When turning C/C on, it's a black screen with white print. When you set a speed, it's still B&W - but with the distance control bars in pale blue - you press this button to toggle between 3 different settings - indicated by either 1, 2 or 3 pale blue bars:


I'm not quite sure what this all has to do with Cruise Control - (wipers?, a disaster?, turning onto the highway?, and a vibration?) - they have no connection.

 

Are you talking about the rain-sensing wipers? I let them do their thing for awhile, but I wasn't quite satisfied with the control unit's choice of when to turn them on and when to speed them up and slow them down. I just put the stalk back to the position where they are manually controlled. At times, I have done the same with the automatic high-beams. I believe some driving conditions are just too unpredictable to rely totally on an automated system.

 

Geese Louise, I think I'll keep my dumb 2013 v a loong time if all of this "cradle to grave" intervention is going on to keep the stresses of life and now driving at a peak. I'm usually the guy whose driving down the freeway without wipers on in a deluge because the RainX is clearing the windshield better than the blades.
