As bestcarweb.jp title is translated, "Crown Sports is too cool!!
Some pictures were published as well and it looks like the Crown Sports is getting ready for an intro.....at least in Japan.

    クラウンスポーツかっこよすぎだろぉぉぉ!! PHEV設定で爆売れ濃厚!! テストカー完全捕捉で分かったその全貌 - 自動車情報誌「ベストカー」

    Partial translation:
"Crown Sport has a luxurious exterior

At first glance, I thought it was a European car, but the exterior has a strong presence and is full of luxury! [Image provided] Twitter account / jane.inatetsu0823

An image of the "mysterious cool SUV" that became a hot topic on Twitter. It has the feel of a German car. However, as you can see, the vehicle is characterized by the sporty gouging of the bumper. On the timeline, "What the hell is this!!!"

Yes, this is definitely a Crown Sport!! The prototype has already been released in July 2022. One of four new crown brothers: crossover (on sale), sedan, estate (wagon), and sports (SUV).

The same design as the prototype that has already been announced. The camouflage under the rear window of the test car is the "CROWN" emblem.
The PR image of the Crown Sports prototype had a bright red body, but it was a powerful and bold design that made me wonder, "Will it really go out like this?" But looking at the test car, I really want to put it out like this!!

The overall taste is also firmly differentiated from the original high-end SUV Harrier, and the exterior that lives up to the name of "sports" is sure to explode in popularity."

Comments: They are particularly obsessed with the taped over emblem on the lower right of the hatch and have assumed it to be the Beyond Zero emblem and the words PHEV after. So they think it may be a PHEV, which may be possible because another shot of the right quarter panel shows another refueling port only bigger in addition to the fuel port on the left in the above spy shot. If it is a PHEV it'll probably have the RAV4 Prime power plant. But the big question is, will it have the 13.6 kWh battery from the 2023 Prius Prime, the 18.1 kWh from the RAV4 Prime, or an entirely new battery?

    more translation:
" Of course, it is premature to judge that PHEV exists in Crown Sports only by the shape of the emblem. In addition to the emblem, new sighting information was sent on Twitter, so I would like to introduce it. That is the image below provided by “Matcha (@MACCHa_tart) ”.

This Crown Sport has a large refueling port on the right side. Looking at precedents such as RAV4 and Harrier, this is probably a PHEV refueling port.
In the photo of the Crown Sports prototype that has already been released, there is a fuel filler port on the left side, but the test car that "Matcha" witnessed in Toyota City also has a fuel filler port on the right. Looking at the precedent of the Harrier PHEV, this is almost certainly a power supply port.

Also, when compared to the individual of "jane.inatetsu0823" mentioned above, details such as the camouflage of the emblem and sensors are different. It seems that there are test cars with different specifications depending on the power unit and grade.

As a crown brand that represents Toyota, it is expected that there will be three types of gasoline, hybrid, and PHEV, which will be extremely hot. The crown may be the fun of choosing the power unit that suits the user only for Toyota, which is challenging BEV and FCV with all its might!"

This is what pictured as the return of the Venza.

The indented lower door or rocker panel trim piece is less interesting when close to color as the body. That is a wrap on the body in the pictures, but Toyota is sure to have a paint close to it.
It is the Avalon replacement for the US, and Toyota's main flagship model before Lexus was a thing. The US sedan starts at $40k.

You might say it's the Avalon of little SUVs - as Trollbait alluded .... yet does Toyota really need another segment?

Did they need the Venza that came out?

The Crown is a big deal to Toyota. The Camry and Corolla are actually named after it. I don't know how it has been recently, but wagon and even hatchback versions of a sedan were once common. The Sport is the hatchback. It and the Estate(wagon) got the crossover treatment because that is what is selling. Those two and the true sedan seem to be only planned for Japan.

What the US got is what Toyota refers to as the Crossover. It's a lifted sedan. Most of the Avalon buyers were probably moving to SUVs for the higher seats that made it easier to get in and out of.
