Hi all, I gave a $500 deposit (via credit card) to a dealer last week. At my request, he sent me an e-mail with clear pricing (car + doc fee = my price) and mentioned in the same e-mail that "my price" was the price I would pay. He also said in his e-mail that they have no idea when my car will be in stock. Is this true? Is it possible that they wouldn't have any idea when my Prius (pkg.#2) will arrive? What sort of documentation should they reasonably be able to provide for me? Should they have any sort of time estimate a week after the order? I don't want them to use the "no guaranteed delivery date" to hold me off for months, just because they can sell my car for a higher price to others in the coming months. Thanks, Tim (not currently) in Hollywood
They're in short supply at the moment; they might be relaying accurate info with that 'no idea' response. I'd check back with them weekly. After 2-3 weeks they should be able to give you a more accurate delivery date. If the dealer is any good, he'll call you weekly with updates.
From all of the sales people I have spoken to over the last 3 days, I would say that he is telling the truth. The dealerships seem to get some info (colors/pkgs) about what is coming a few days before it hits port. This is my understanding of it. Hope it helps.
