I noticed a weird ticking noise from the ICE when it is cold outside. Around 1200RPM when idling. Anyone has the same problem/experience too?

Btw...The new Camry hybrid XLE is so niceeee. Definitely feels like a Lexus now.

    Thanks

Currently running 0w20 Mobil 1 extended performance with Toyota OEM oil filter. I am going to switch to Amsoil signature series after the winter and see if it is gonna help.

Mine lasts about 1-2 minutes, then it goes away, regardless of outside temps. I can't tell if it's a lifter or an exhaust manifold shield rattle.

The last 3 Toyota's I've owned (Matrixx, Yaris, Prius C) all had the lifters tick when cold. Seems to last only a few minutes though.

I'm not sure how much difference synthetic makes on this when it comes to the lifter tick. I'm using Castrol 0/20 w/Mobil 1 filter and it ticks just like it did when it was brand new. That being said, the last 2 Toyota's I owned also did this (Matrixx & Yaris) I doubt it's anything other than normal when cold.

is it worth running it by the dealer while still under warranty? they replaced a lot of engine parts on my fathers new chrysler a few years back. unfortunately, that didn't fix the problem though.

If its just ticking (sharp) noise then its the lifters. If its growling/scraping or anything strange then its definitely the heat shield. They can make very strange and scary noise.
