cold weather and mpg /bars

    just some fyi

    2008 base. life time(with me [2016]) avg 45.6 mpg ~Hand~ calculated.

    temps 15f to -10f; filled 1/24/2019, ten full bars @ 151991
    letting car warn up(cabin) while removing snow and ice.

    at 152020 down one bar
    at 152030 down another bar.

    no problem. no help needed. just info.

    I’ll assume the “bar” you refer to is the gas gauge and not the batteries . I would keep tracking it. My understanding is the heater uses electricity until the Internal Combustion Engine / ICE is warm. I would imagine this would decrease your mileage though only during the warm up periods, then it should be back to normal. At which time the ICE satisfies the need to condition the air with the heat from the coolant.
