I've never even seen one on the road but did see one at a San Jose auto show and another at Hybrids 2 Hotrods.

    I stumbled across a review at http://www.nytimes.com/2012/07/01/automobiles/autoreviews/a-bare-bones-electric-car-that-goes-the-extra-mile.html?pagewanted=all.

Post your reviews and discussions of them here. Personally, I think Coda has little chance of surviving, esp. given the slow uptake of other more refined BEVs from mass market automakers (e.g. Leaf and FFE).

I read the same review. Sounds like a really rough car -- with the quality level (if I remember correctly) close to something you'd expect from some backward communist country. On the other hand it gets great range. Interesting, but not something that is going to do well I imagine.

they claim it gets great range. But so does the C-Max hybrid. Reality is somewhere in between. Anyway, there's a dealership just a couple miles from us that sells them. Maybe I should say they're trying to sell them. I charge at the Nissan dealership maybe once a month next door - walk across the Coda lot to pick up a Pastrami sandwich at "The Hat" ... and I have yet to see anyone looking at the car, save me. I'd post a picture, but the Coda is pretty under-whelming. Looks like a mid 1980's Corolla to me, only maybe not quite that exciting.

I will say one positive thing . . . the car is more exciting then the folks (not) trying to sell it. Never once did they come up to me and ask if I was interested in it.

Ha. Well, the Coda folks at Alt Car Expo were enthusiastic and were keen to point out things that differentiated their car from other BEVs.

The thing is, the car's styling and lack of refinement is a stark contrast to the Leaf, Volt, and FFE that I drove there. Fit EV wasn't bad either. I just can't figure out who'd be willing to take a risk on such a outdated looking car that's so unrefined and where the company's future is so uncertain. There are plenty of other choices w/less uncertainty.

How very sad. CODA has been running ads in the local paper for months. Apparently they've sold less than 500 cars. Likely to fold soon.
