I got a 2001 and I noticed it makes a quiet clicking noise... usually about 3 clicks, when you first start from a stop... not too sure if thats normal or not, just got the car recently...

Sounds similar to the sound of a bad cv joint clicking, but the car only does it when accelerating from a complete stop...

may be normal I dont know

Def not normal. Turn your wheel to one steering stop and take off slowly, if no noise, turn to the other stop and take off slowly. If it is a CV Joint, the clicking should become more pronounced with the wheel at the steering stop.

If it doesn't become more pronounced, look elsewhere for the problem.

This sort of noise can be associated to the inboard drive shaft joints and can be checked by raising the front of the car to check for rotational play between the hub of the joint and the shaft also check for movement of the shaft up and down, forward and backwards, at 90deg to the hubs.

As Usnavy said this is more commonly the outer CV joints.

A pain-in-the-nice person, I have seen at least one thread about how to go about it. If you have a heated garage and tools, it can be done solo. However, you might consider out-sourcing to a reliable mechanic who has done them in the past. Be sure and have the transaxle oil changed within a couple of hundred miles afterwards ... drop and clean the pan.

Lots to find by searching this forum.

Just to eliminate the obvious ... no nail in tire or rock in tread? I once had a short-shaft, sheet metal screw get in a tread. The 'tick tick' was maddening. Then when it came out, the air escaped too. ....

    GOOD LUCK!

Well, I looked at the cv joints, and they look brand new... so I dont think its that... and its not constant, only 3 clicks after I first press the accelerate... and only from a complete stop.... you can barely hear it, still not too sure... but not really worried about it either... Ive had cars make alot worse and alot louder sounds than that, and I drove them haha...
