Cleaning MAF Sensor

Hi guys. Can someone just confirm that the part that I highlighted in this picture is the MAF sensor as I want to clean mine some time soon.

BTW. I haven't even looked at it yet on the car, just looking at the picture posted earlier by Jayman.

 

What you circled is the ambient air temp sensor portion of the MAF sensor. The sensor wires cannot be seen in that photo.

If you don't choose to remove the sensor from the air cleaner housing before cleaning, you need to squirt the fluid into the recess below the circle. See Jay's photo in post #7.

I know this is 5 years dead, but wanted to say thank you all for this.

I've never worked on cars (i'm a computer guy) but this was simple enough that i was able to clean the MAF sensor (getting 4mpg better!) and make the Oh S triangle and check engine light go off.

You're spot on about the oil overfill - the throttle body was a mess and had a visible layer of oil at the bottom.

 

I'll add my thanks to the previous posters for the attachments and photos--great guide to cleaning the MAF and throttle body. I'd never done it for my '07 with 160K miles. Things were filthy and it was idling rough, now it's smooth and seems like more power. And it sounds like I may have prevented some impending problems. Removing the air filter housing was simple, as was removing the MAF from that. I had a can of CRC cleaner from another old car (cleaning the MAF made a huge difference on that car, too). Alcohol and swabs cleaned the TB. Whole project took less than 30 minutes with a 10mm socket, a #1 Phillips driver, a few Q-tips and a capful of alcohol. Great forum, and thanks again.
