What do they recommend to clean the "grainy" stuff used to cover the dash?

Not sure - hopefully others have suggestions.

But may I add "and does not attract dust'. Or better yet "repels dust". Seems as if I'm wiping dust / lint away from the dash top or audio / HVAC screens every other day. Perhaps it gets pulled in by the ventilation/AC system.... moreso than any other car I've owned.

I used a California dash duster on mine almost 3 weeks ago, and it's still as clean as it was then. It stays cleaner than any other car I've owned, including the Camry Hybrid with Plasmacluster.

Another vote for the California mini duster. I've used mine for the past 5 years with excellent success.

Thanks much for the CA Duster tip. Actually I have one in the garage, but it's very old and a knockoff. Didn't know the CA was coated with paraffin wax. That's why it works well no doubt.

I'm currently using a micro fiber cloth and every day, more dust. So I ordered a CA set on Amazon yesterday. A large size and the dash duster. $22. The large one can be used inside the house too. Yuck, I'm a bachelor and dislike the domestic stuff.

For those who like using car dusters on their cars, Griots Garage has a 'garage sale' where they discount products from time to time... Right now they have a Micro Fiber car duster discounted to $13 from $20. I know its too big for the dash but with micro fiber being the inn thing now, wanted to pass this deal along...

I use a CA car duster for the dash then every once in awhile I follow up with Meguiar's Quick Detailer Interior. It is non-greasy and doesn't leave any nasty residue.

I used a Swiffer duster today, and think I like it better than my California dash duster. I've had the dash duster for a few years, and every now and then it'll leave loose orange fibers behind.

No such issues with the Swiffer duster.

I've always used Windex, or Windex diluted 50/50 with rubbing alcohol, for all my other cars. Would that hurt anything?

I would never intentionally put Windex or any solution with rubbing alcohol on the dash, especially the rubbing alcohol.

I would never use Windex either on my dashboard nonetheless alcohol. A very mild cleaner is all you need, if not water. The upper dash really has nothing but dust, maybe around the cup holder etc it gets dirty if you eat and drink in the car, so maybe then a mild cleaner would be needed.

    Agreed.

Unless you had some sort of accident  in the car, a duster is all you need on the dash. I've never used anything more than a duster on any of my cars--except my Fiat 124 Spider in high school / college. :D

I had a Honda Pilot where some of the dash trim was painted silver like our door handles and steering wheel, and discovered that sun screen on my knees caused the paint where my knee was resting to slough off. All it took was a bit of rubbing alcohol to clean all the paint off that piece (which luckily was only $13 to replace).

I've also used a little rubbing alcohol to blot up a small ink stain in leather seats, but you risk leaching the dye out of the leather.

No alcohol in the car for me, rubbing or otherwise.

I used alcohol to prime for my Garmin dash mount and it dulls the plastic DRASTICALLY. I would not use alcohol on any of the plastic other than to help mount something using an adhesive.
