    Aloha,

I have an intermittent chirping sound coming from the right dash area that sounds very familiar. I had the same sound on the driver's side a couple years ago and replaced the brake actuator, which was pricey. The car was quiet when driving for months, but then this started up.

I assume there's no way it's the same thing since it's on the other side of the car now, but can't find any clues on other threads. It's an intermittent and uneven, non-rhythmic chirp. I haven't been able to correlate it with anything - driving patterns, temperature, altitude, braking, accelerating, idling, etc.

    Ideas?

    Thanks for your help!

Maybe you have something in your glove box that's chirping.

People explaining strange noises and vibrations in a car are almost near impossible to diagnose. Have someone else drive your car on an empty road while you crawl around trying to better understand the noise so you can describe it in a way that makes it easier for us to help.

If you move your air vent flow from your feet to your face to defrost and back down do you hear the chirping more as the vents are moving as the air is moving to different vents?. There is a pump looking thing that sits over on the right side fender well right under and behind the brake reservoir I haven't bothered to look to see what it is but when I had the crappy actuator in my car this little pump looking thing was hammering like a water radiator in an old house I mean it was loud You could almost feel the hammering on the floorboard of the car because this part is attached to the frame rail inside fender well on the passenger side I changed the actuator to another crappy actuator and the hammering went away in this little pump looking thing that we're discussing.

Okay I had to reread the generation 1 post about the guy looking up at the steering assembly and I guess he's looking at the damper control mechanism? I have a damper control mechanism with the whisker business going on I believe right now any mode besides straight to my face I can hear the door hunting when I have it on the first setting blowing straight out the center vents or all across the dash nothing else there's no noise I put the fan on it blows out those vents properly If I turn the fan off and say put it on defrost and on the floor the last button to the right I hear the vent move and then I hear this hunting like noise like a potentiometer is turning or something sounds like mice running around in the duct work kind of. So then I need to take this mess apart and clean it? I guess I should see little pieces of metal dust or something?.

Maybe it's a lack of punctuation that brought the steering in?

No it came from the guy in the post that chap posted . The guy was talking about looking up at the steering wheel or the steering motor and I guess that was just in reference to where this damper door motor or something is located No big deal.

Not coming from the speakers? Just saying because of an Onkyo home system amp I’ve got, with a chirping issue.
