First time prius owner I was driving along felt a loss of power for about half a second, and got this wonderful message.

I was able to make it home, I know there's not much you guys can help with, with out the codes, but any advice would be great.

Car doesn't want run anymore it's like locked it does however still turn on in EV mode. It is a 2013 Prius I'm currently sitting at 94,000 miles.

I read I can maybe reset the 12v battery to get it to run again? How safe is that to do?

Unfortunately I read a very similar post on here saying they had their prius parked under a tree. Which was throwing pine sap and clogged their air vents which then caused a malfunction?

How common is that, my car definitely has some tree sap I've been parking under the tree for about a week already.

I read the warranty manual and it clearly states they would not cover a hybrid system failure with "Airborne chemicals" such as tree sap.

I'm just freaking out considering I've only had the car for a year and 4 months I did not expect something to go this wrong this fast.

Edit* I'll also add i had literally just finished fueling up. Bad fuel perhaps?

Edit* #2 So I tried doing the whole restart thing by disconnecting the negative battery, I also tried disconnecting the hybrid battery itself and a white cable to hopefully temporarily clear the error message but that didn't work either.

Cross posting from reddit, first time posting here if I broke any rules I apologise.

Interesting about the under the tree thing.
Any chance the speedometer doesn’t work and the odometer as well?

Surprised not a single reply to this thread.

Pretty much everything he described has been covered before......maybe close to a hundred times.
Giving the same answers over and OVER does get tiresome after a while.

Get the code read and search here for it. You will find ton of info.

And forget about the tree scenario...

Copied/pasted from a post I just made about 5 mins ago in another thread:

Could be something as simple as a wonky 12v battery (although honesty, that seems unlikely). Could be something as major as a failed inverter. Without reading the stored code(s) it's like shooting targets blindfolded.
