I have a 2010 Prius. I left the interior light on for over a week and drained the 12V battery. Tried jumping the car and got a "Check Hybrid System" error. Through research I chose to replace the 12V battery and add gas to the tank. I also cleaned the hybrid fan and vacuumed loose debris from around the hybrid battery. Put it all back together yesterday evening to no avail. I still have the "Check Hybrid System" error.

Is this something I can fix on my own? Or will it require a dealer to work on it?

I'm attaching pictures of the errors, the fuel level, and the hybrid battery level.
I used a Nexas OBD2 BT reader and got the info below:

Does the car go into Ready mode?
    Can you start the car?

Thank you for the replies. I had to go out of town for a long weekend for a graduation and ended up having to rent a car. I plan to start working on this again this evening or tomorrow.

No, I did not. I made an assumption, probably incorrectly, that a new battery would be fully charged.

I've not had time to work on this for several weeks. I left town for a graduation and then work has been very busy. I figured the battery was charged and working correctly because the electronic locks were once again working. But, over the weekend I tried to unlock the car using the remote and discovered that the 12V battery is once again discharged (or at least it is acting as if that's the case).

I purchased the 12V battery at Batteries Plus. I'll take the battery back to them and ask them to check it for me.

The car did not go into Ready mode and I was unable to start the car. Instead the screen went directly into the "Check Hybrid System" error message along with the other error lights.[IMG]

I don't think I reversed the jump, but this sounds like a very easy thing to check. I'll report back what I find.

The 12V battery is drained again so I need to get that sorted before I can try to start the car again.

I'm embarrassed :( to post this but wanted to tell the rest of the story. Somehow when I opened the fuse box cover to jumpstart my car I unlatched this wire connector. I have been unable to start my car since then. My assumption was that I couldn't jumpstart the car because the 12V battery was too low, but I've learned that shouldn't prevent a jumpstart. I looked in the engine compartment several times since then to check things in the fuse box and to disconnect the white cable going to the fuse box. Only last night did I notice that the connector wasn't latched. After putting the (newly tested and charged) 12V battery back in place and latching the connector my car started right up. (y)

I am SO relieved. Thank you everyone for your help. :)
