This info needs to be widely spread. I now have done it and it works like a charm. There is now no reason for any NHW10 owner to drive their car blind any more. Forgive me if I missed this but the item you describe says its for a VW? But you say it works for a gen 1 prius, please explain. That is exactly right. It works on Gen 1 Prius: NHW10. It may work on NHW11 as well but I do not own a NHW11 so cannot test
Just so no later reader is puzzled, when most of the posts on this forum say "Gen 1 Prius" they mean the NHW11, first one sold in the US. Not sure what that makes the NHW10 (sold earlier in Japan and imported some other places in the world) ... Gen 0? Main point, if you're in the US or driving what's usually called a Gen 1 Prius on here, this scanner is for a different car. -Chap
This is absolutely true. I am posting from New Zealand and my signature clearly mentions that My car is NHW10 and not NHW11. Though NHW10 and NHW11 body-shape wise looks almost identical, their HV battery is completely different. I have seen a member of this forum to use this cable and the software that came with this cable to scan his NHW11 Mini VCI FOR Toyota TIS Techstream V8 10 021 Single Cable | eBay This is also a very cheap option of scanning your NHW11.
So, will the cable and software that you have provided a link to be able to pull codes for all of the ECU's on the 2001-2003 Prii, including Hybrid component Diagnostic codes? I am looking for a code scanner for my 2001 Prius, and if this would be an option, that would be awesome!
