What's the best price other than free anyone has seen to charge L2 ? Our residential EVSE operates off peak for 10¢/kWh. A true bargain after leaving So Cal some 3ish years ago. That's why we installed solar that paid for itself prior to moving out. Free charging is becoming more rare .... like finding Bigfoot riding a unicorn. Our chargers at work in SoCal were a bargain at 26¢/kWh .... while other locations for L2 might be as high as 50¢ plus. Long story short, we had software updates at the service center that not only used up the charge while getting taken care of & tested (sitting in the single digit temperatures), they used up a quarter tank of gas. Headed home - i wanted to find out what ChargePoint would require for payment. Couldn't believe it! Same as our residential fees. 10¢/kWh !! The Town Pump that hosts these L2 & DC QC are full service with sandwiches, booze, donuts, sundry groceries, Casino, automotive supplies - you name it. Waiting for $1 worth of juice I went in and got lucky on a slot machine, to boot! LOL
I haven't checked in a couple of years but if you charge at city hall (4 charging outlets) - that was free. Ditto at the library but only one charger there. A lot of paid parking lots are offering free charging, everything else is $0.50/KwH+, sometimes tack on a time of use fee. That's way beyond my calculations to run the car in HV mode. That's also the reason I won't purchase a BEV.
