So..... My gen1 Prius is driving fine and the traction battery is in good health. Although I've been toying with the idea of topping up the traction battery with a high voltage charger I have acquired in order to improve MPG . Anyone been down this route? Would it be a good idea? I heard the first Gen 1s produced in Japan came with a plug in charger....

    Generally.......that is wrong.
And the longer you wait to do it, the less good it will accomplish.

And that is a bit different than "topping up" the battery with an external charger.
That would gain so little, if anything, that it wouldn't be worth the time and trouble.......and risk.
