Below, in the picture of the charging cable, you can see the round cap with the shiny cable attaching it to the charger that connects to my 3 month old Prime. It is gone.

That connection is a loose fit into a hole slightly larger than the end of the attaching cable. The cap is to be placed on the end of the charger, when not plugged into the Prime. In the past, that item has come out of the charger end a number of times but is now lost.

There is no Toyota a part number to order that lost part. I am told to by the dealer to order the whole charging cable - +/- $400.

    Any suggestions?

    Thank you.

Just a note of comfort - many j1772's have no cap, as it's not critically important to run around with it - unless it's important to you anyways. If that's the case, maybe try & fashion one yourself.

Good point by @hill. Since I charge outside quite often, there are lots of times that the cap has rain in it. When that happens, I stow the EVSE with the cap off. It doesn't seem to hurt a thing. When dry, I usually put it on just because I'm a little anal retentive. But I don't think it's essential.

At home I have an L2 EVSE that I keep ready to plug in. I never put the cap on it.

Thank you both. In fact I found the cable and end cap a curious crude design. Makes about as much sens as the incomple, ineffective close of the charger door or the complete lack of spare or place for spare. As my third Prius, it is nicely finished in many ways but the fundamental engineering is cumbersome and unartful. I will continue this at another place.

    Again thank you both.

FYI, as others have pointed out, you don't need the cap. I never used the cap when not plugged in, and when the EVSE is plugged, the cap just dangles. I removed it on purpose and have no idea where it is now. lol

It would be interesting to know the size of the “Membership” of the ...no idea where it is now crowd. . . .

That could prove useful if I build a cable storage box around my outdoor outlet so I can leave the charging cable plugged into the outlet instead of disconnecting both ends and putting it in the car.

Even better, I would just need to build the box. Thanks Jimbo.

I've been rocking this mount since February, it works great. I have the simple cable hanging hook, maybe I use it, maybe I don't.

Weather/rain doesn't ever touch the blue charge handle, the roof overhang is more than enough.

Love the picture, kind of looks like the charge cord is plugged into the faucet. Must be hydro power.

Yep, 120v to 240 volts worth of hydro power...
