I have been trying to change temperature unit on my 2016 Prius, but no luck so far. I had changed General Setup menu weather temperature unit from F to Celsius, but the outside temperature and climate control still display in Fahrenheit. am I missing something?

the 5 year old Camry can change temperature unit between Fahrenheit and Celsius with ease, I find it hard to believe Prius with all of its technology can't do this simple thing at all even after so many generations and revisions

The Prius is delivered with the units customary to the market it is sold to.
If you bought the car in the USA, imperial units it will be. No option to change.
In some markets, if I remember correctly from the user's manual. they sell versions with the option to change units, but at least in my Prius sold in Germany, there is no option to change from metric (and L/100km) to imperial and/or to km/L. I am also a bit baffled how some basic software features are missing. I wouldn't mind to change sometimes to km/L instead of having L/100km which is customary in Germany.
The Prius sold in Italy instead reports the consumption in km/L (as customary there).

There must be some idiotic marketing guy in Japan dictating what these cars should do worldwide, instead of simply offering a worldwide software and let people decide what they like best.

the problem is that Toyota did this to Prius, but not other Toyota models. as I mentioned, Camry sold in USA can change between units without issue. why not Prius?

maybe they are just proving the point showing advanced technology always has simple things overlooked?

I don't know why they do it. I see it also quite an issue to have the car roll out of the line and depending on the country of delivery install the right software or the right setting, instead of simply installing one software for all countries, and let the user decide and/or let the dealer set it up upon delivery and allow the customer to change it if it wants.
It would simplify a lot software development and deployment.
I have no clue - it is idiotic how they do it, but there are many examples of such things among the car industry. Prius is not a single case, within Toyota and in the car world.

Early 2016 could not change between mikes and kilometers either but that was corrected for later 2016 models. I believe those made after February 2016 could change those units. I don't know whether changing temperature units is a feature for US models

It isn’t, at least on mine. The Change Display Units setting on the combination meter changes the speed display between MPH and km/h (with MPH also displayed). It also changes the units for distance (miles or km) and fuel consumption (MPG or L/100 km), but not for temperature, which is always displayed in °F on both the combination meter and the air conditioning amplifier assembly.

Neither the Owner’s Manual nor the Repair Manual mentions any setting to change the temperature units. It may be that the only way to do this would be to replace the combination meter circuit plate with the version for cars sold in Canada, assuming it’s otherwise compatible.

Mine was built in March 2016. I'll check and see if I can change between miles and kilometers and report back.

According to the manual, the setting for changing between miles and kilometers would be right underneath HUD.

I don't have that setting on my 'Murkin Prius Three. I'll post a picture later.

I'm assuming your Murkin is short slang for American rather than the pubic wig variety! :barefoot:

Here's the picture. March, 2016 built Three U.S. model. Come on, Toyota, how about an OTA patch for this?!

As a Canuckian living in the US who would like Celsius for the temperature display, I would like to bump this thread... :)

Seems really silly that they can't/won't flash it.

    Agreed, it's dysfunctional as designed.

Yeah but why? It's not going to happen. You're expecting a groundswell of metric rebellion, lol?

Yeah, it's tilting at windmills, might as well assimilate. :)

Those are disgustingly good fuelly numbers btw. Makes you wonder why everyone's clamoring for the Prime.

I've been doing most of my break-in driving early in the morning when/where nobody's around. I've been watching the ECO indicator like a hawk. I imagine that when I'm driving in 'normal' traffic, it will dip a little.

Oh, dear - I didn't know about the Mars orbiter.

Here in Australia, we've forgotten Imperial measures altogether - except for the odd item coming from USA. Makes it much easier all around - most of the world thinks that way too, so it's easier when researching products etc.
