I was playing around with the configurator on toyota`s website, then i checked out the new Toyota Aygo (cheapest toyota) and found this, its for sure carplay running on the multimedia display. I checked out all the other toyota`s thats also on the website in the configurator, none of them had the carplay pic in the display, just maps, only the new Aygo that was updated on their website literally 1 day ago had it.

Even On Apple`s website it doesnt say the aygo got carplay lol, will Toyota offically start supporting carplay in late 2018?

Whats funny tho is that even Apple havent stated its getting it lol, also, its like the cheapest toyota lol (in Norway it costs around 20 000 dollars, cause of the stupid amount of taxes our retarded gouvernment puts on us, in US it wouldve costed like 7000 dollars new), the Rav4 here doesnt have it tho, but the new Aygo has it lol. Toyota should have started with carplay a long freakin time ago tho... Just hope it wont come with "subscription" like BMW`s does... That got to be the dubest thing i have ever seen from BMW.

wow, that is dumb. a subscription would kill it, which may be what they want.

When I asked the local Toyota dealer a couple months ago if the ‘19 Prime would have CarPlay, he said “good chance” (which is counter intuitive for a sales guy to say this, knowing that I told him that is a highly preferred feature for me... he should want to make a sale). Granted, dealer don’t carry much credibility, so who knows. Seems a good bet though, since Prius is generally their tech model. Just not sure how they would implement it on the 11” display...? Would be interesting.

Right now, the 11.6” screen just has the regular screen stuff ported over. My guess is that it’ll show up on the bottom half like the audio screen. Apps may show up at the bottom. I would hope Apple maps will show up as full screen but there’s also a chance it’ll be half a screen.

Here’s how Volvo does it on their 12” Sensus vertical screens.

A PC has Windows OS, and a Mac has MacOS. Car entertainment systems also have a hidden (embedded) OS. Toyota, like lots of car companies, has been using QNX, which works with Entune 2.0. With the 2018 Camry, they switched to AGL (Automotive Grade Linux). I assume they are going to switch to this for all their new cars. The Camry supports CarPlay, which means all new cars will probably support it too.

I assume they will eventually get Android Auto ported to it too (it would seem foolish to disenfranchise more than half their customers).
