My 2005 Prius is approching the 30,000 mark. I really want to do a transaxle fluid change on my Prius. I have to admit I treat my Prius like I would a sports car. I expect my half-shaft to last another 20,000 if not less. Because of my abusive way of driving, I feel that changing the fluid would be the best insurance. However, Durant Toyota in weatherford & Freeman Toyota in Hurst told me that they do not perform the transaxle fluid change for the Prius. Does anyone know where I can get the fluid change performed in the DFW metroplex?

It's SOOO easy to do you can do it yourself. There are a few threads on here on how to do it. I just did it myself a few weeks ago. VERY easy to do.
The reason the dealers probably don't want to do it is because Toyota says it never really needs to be replaced.

Same here but they quoted me $120. Take your fluid to a trustworthy mechanic. Everytown has at least one! Look for church buses and vans parked out front and a can do attitude.

Well, there are any number of service items not listed on the official Prius maintenance schedule that many dealers try to sell you for a large price - think of the long list of 30K and 60K mile maintenance services that a dealer will perform for you, if you don't demand a la carte services.

Considering how easy it is to replace the transaxle fluid, this service represents an easy ~$100+ profit for the dealer service dept.
