    Hey Guys,

Long time lurker, first time poster :)

I just picked up a Canadian 2015 Prius C last Tuesday and love it! It's audio system has been working flawlessly until yesterday, where I have this weird bug when streaming audio over bluetooth. The only way I can really properly describe it is if I show you a video... so here it is!

(Note: I just uploaded it, so it might take Youtube awhile before it's playable)

Anyway, only when I use bluetooth audio do I notice a 'flickering' / 'flashing' of album artwork and song info. This never really happened when I initially picked up the car (the worst I would ever see was 1 single flicker - which I presumed was it looking for the album art, but it would always work fine afterwards).

So a rough breakdown of the video by minutes:seconds is as follows:

0:00 - I turn the car on and switch to bluetooth audio
0:23 - You can start seeing a song I am playing flicker both it's album art and the song information.
1:12 - I switch from bluetooth audio to my Lightning / USB connection. Everything works flawlessly.
2:02 - I switch to another song, initially using USB.
2:20 - I switch from USB back to Bluetooth Audio (and flickering returns)
2:45 - While it's playing, I turn Gracenote / Album Art off just to see if it has an effect - no dice.
3:20 - I switch to another song on my iPhone.
3:40 - I switch back to Lightning / USB, it starts working perfectly again.
4:10 - (I switch album art back on)

It should be mentioned that the whole time this flickering is going on, the audio is completely perfect and controls work just fine as well. It's only happening on the display.

I'm just perplexed because it worked just fine for the majority of the week after I picked up the car. Has anyone else had this issue? I wanted to rule out my phone as being the problem so I did a factory restore and set it up as a new phone. I re-paired it over bluetooth and still encountered the same problem. There were no updates / changes to my phone when it started happening, so it's quite odd.

I've been looking for a 'factory reset' button on the head unit to see if that might help, but i've yet to find it.

    Help!

PS: I have a few bonus questions I'd like to ask, if anyone also knows:

    1) My understanding is that the display audio head units (as they are referred to in Canada) have a gracenotes database stored locally to display the album artwork when using Bluetooth / XM / RDS FM Radio (with the exception of a directly-connected iPhone over USB which gets the album art from the phone itself). I see an option to update the Gracenotes DB with a file that would supposedly go on a USB thumb drive, but where can someone get this update?

    2) How do you update the firmware of the display audio head unit? Is it possible to do via a smartphone or can you download the update and put it on a USB stick much like the above Gracenote DB update?

    3) I know there are differences between the US and Canada and our head units (I.E. Canada calls them "Display Audio" systems or whatever, the US calls the overall package "EnTune", but is there a way in Canada to take advantage of the US features in Canada?

    4) Maps. Is it only possible to get map updates from the Dealership and pay through the nose? Or is it possible to get the map updates through.... ahem.... "alternate" methods (I.E. over the internet) and throw them on a USB stick for the update. I heard that might be possible but I wondered if all toyota in-dash navigation systems share the same type of updating procedure/software, if that makes sense :)

Thanks so much in advance for the help!

Actually for the 2015 Navi, updates are via Micro SD card.
The slot is right under the right tuner knob.

I am thinking it is more an IPhone issue than the audio system issue. Did you update your phone anytime between when it wasn't having the issue and when the issue began (IOS 9 has a lot of issues reported on the Apple forums). There are pages and pages in the car manual in regards to the display unit in regards to what formats are compatible and what formats are not compatible (some formats work inconsistently and not reading titles, etc correctly. I would have someone else connect their Bluetooth device with a different OS and see if it occurs.
