Came across this article from Reuters. If you add California to Canada, the automakers will not be able to afford making clean cars for those markets and dirty ones for the rest of us. They'll have to make clean ones for all of us.

OTTAWA (Reuters) - Canada has agreed a voluntary deal with major carmakers to cut emissions of greenhouse gases that are blamed for global warming, Natural Resources Minister John Efford told Parliament on Wednesday.

Under the deal, the car makers will reduce emissions by 25 percent from 1995 levels by 2010. Efford said it would be signed "in the very near future".

A spokesman for the car makers -- General Motors Corp., Ford Motor Co. and DaimlerChrysler AG -- confirmed a deal had been reached but gave no details.

I think the first thing that Environment Canada and MOT have to do is ban MMT. Until they do that, it's hopeless.
