legally speaking ... Do they have the ground to refuse the warranty, it is not salvage.. it is rebuilt and been on the road for a while

gen 4 prius , know issue with the exhaust leaking coolant, covered under extended emission warranty extended further in NY CA NJ etc

Can Toyota refuse the warranty in a car that is certified rebuilt title because of history of accident even though there is open case on this as known issue?

"Rebuilt title" is the same as a "salvage title" - just like a "used car" is the same as a "previously owned car". It just sounds nicer......

IMHO; Technically speaking - Toyota is well within their rights to refuse warranty work on a car that has been tainted with a salvage certificate. How do they know if the previous damage didn't contribute to the eventual failure of the part in question. This is one of the reasons why they are cheaper than a car with a clean title w/o accidents.

The example I always use: If a person buys a brand new car off the dealership lot; then runs it into a telephone pole - is that damage covered under warranty? It's probably covered by the new owners insurance. It's not the dealer's fault this person ran it into a telephone pole. Any shotly work that has been done by the body shop would be billable. ie. misaligned or intermittent sensors, car pulling in either direction when you release the steering wheel, ect.

I looked, it says emissions warranty is excluded from not being covered. All other warranties are gone. 15 years or 150,000 miles is the emission warranty for performance or defect. This was for a 2020. So if my car fails the smog until Oct 2035, and under 150,000, Toyota has to fix it.
The dealer is the first place to go. Any alteration or other red flags voids the warranty.

Cars with rebuilt titles might not show true mileage
