Can the NAV system mute music?

I would have thought this was asked already, but a search isn't turning up much.

I have an '07 Prius with NAV and it is very difficult to hear the NAV voice with the music on. I always thought the system was integrated so it would mute the music to speak (like it does when it wants a voice command). Is there anyway to get it to do this? Or, atleast lower the music volume more significantly?

So.. if you adjust the balance and the fade to the left front speaker, then it'd mute the radio! haha.

Your only option is to increase the volume of the nav voice.

Weak! I thought an integrated NAV system would cooperate with the radio and lower the music volume when the NAV voice needs to speak.

I've never had a problem with it, but then I suppose my music is played at a low level by modern standards.

It would be a good feature to have, though. I have my music cranked often on the carputer. I don't have to worry about missing directions from my guidance software since it automatically lowers the music volume when it has something to say. It'd be nice to see this in a future revision of the Prius nav.

Agreed. I love having an integrated NAV system, but it is one area that has room for significant improvement.

I thought that there was a setting that enabled this. My wife has the car, so I can't check - but in our Prius, the driver's side volume does go down when there is an instruction (also goes down for the "bong"). In addition, there is a control for the guided navigation volume, perhaps that needs to be increased.

Try checking to if the "adaptive volume control" is turned on in the menu-volume screen
