I kinda don't want to put the stickers on the bumper. Can I put it in the back window or somewhere where it's not on the paint or is it required on the bumper?

Or if I get pulled over, can I show the officer the stickers and just say I haven't affixed it yet?

Nope, they are mandated to be in the location on the bumper. Even if you have them you can get a fix it ticket or a full car pool violation ticket

  3. Not true, I put one on my buttocks and one on my forehead , the cop thought it was OK, in fact he was even laughing with me. Some men in white jackets came along and invited me to their house. I didnt get the connection. But it's a nice Pad, in fact it's all padded.

Nope, you have to put them where they say to place them.

These guys are all wrong, so long as you never drive solo in the HOV lane, (or do not mind being ticketed when you do) you may place them anywhere.

  6. These stickers are not actually permanent, when I sold my 05 they came off quite easily. Now conform, or you'll end up in my pad.

If you use a blow dryer they seem to come off alright. I watched some youtube videos before sending in my application.

If you are going to take advantage of the sticker, just place it where it's required location on the sticker. If not use the lane. Remember, it is a privledge. Not your right.

I'd be curious to know who's has actually gotten pulled over because their sticker wasn't in the right place. I've seen a few PIP now in SoCal where their stickers were on the glass of the rear, side, and front.

Posted previously in another thread, but here is what I have done. One small sticker on the front bright metal strip on the lower left, and the other small sticker on the lower rear window under the spoiler. Have not been stopped yet, but have been passed several times by CHP motors and cars while in the HOV lane. I also placed one of the large stickers on a cut-to-fit magnetic sheet used since I first got yellow stickers for my '04 and then on my '06. Only put it on the right rear fender near the charging port once or twice. If I get stopped for it, I will add the two larger ones, but since I never permanently placed the larger stickers on any of my cars, I not too worried.
I think as long as you have stickers visible from front and rear, the CHP officers will spot them.

I think intent of the law was that the stickers be permanently attached to one car so they could not be moved from one car to another, in the same spirit that putting license plates on a car other than the one it was assigned to is a big no-no. In other words, the decals are meant to indicate that this particular car has been granted the privileges associated with the decals, and not that any car that you happen to put the decals on is eligible. This is different from, for example, the Disabled tags that can be used in any car that the disabled person is in.

Of course, where HOV decal placement enforcement fits in a given officer's priorities is an entirely different matter.
