Factory applique' Lower Console/Shifter be removed easily? It is a $199 "option" that I do not want. If I get a car with it, can it come off easily? This is on a Prius Three Touring with Moonstone Softex, so includes the Shifter applique' standard. Even the Toyota site claims this is designed for Black interior, not Moonstone.

i think not. make a deal with the dealer to remove it to your satisfaction, or replace the entire structure below it.

It is removable for sure. Held on with double-stick tape. If the tape doesn't come off cleanly then some goop-off will solve that problem.

When you order the car tell them to not apply the pieces. They are "port installed". If you catch it before it arrives in North America it should be no problem.

Today, my Toyota dealer accepted my counter-offer, so I am picking up the car Saturday. Will see if they removed the applique' or not--didn't confirm the status of that yet. It is Hypersonic Red, Moonstone Softex, Three Touring. So excited ... loved the test drive last weekend! Trading my 2013 Black Cherry Pearl Persona for it. Keeping the 2014 Black Two for now ... we'll see how "wifey" likes the new one! May end up with two Gen 4's ... who knows.

A few years ago, my sister LOVED her husband's work car - which he replaced with an IDENTICAL one when 2 years old, and she insisted on keeping it - 2 identical cars, you couldn't tell who it was till you could read the licence plate!!!

So, I took delivery today, and the Black Applique' is installed. I will not be in a hurry to remove it (double stick tape), as it looks okay so far. Have to say, the ride/comfort in the Gen4 Three Touring is much nicer than the Gen3 Persona. Both have 17-inch wheels and touring suspension, but the Gen4 is so much more refined and quieter. I think others have said that the EV mode is more noticeable (electric whine noise) than Gen3, and I have to concur. I do not push the EV mode, I'm saying that coasting to a stop and launching from a stop where EV mode is engaged results in louder electric motor noise than Gen3. I don't mind it, kind of makes you realize you are driving an electric vehicle in that mode. And the ICE also appears to be louder when accelerating in the Power band. Maybe will soften some when broken in. It's only at 100 miles upon getting it home.
