A friend of mine has a 2005 Prius and this morning we were checking the status with the TIS Techstream software. When we ran the health check the software returned a number of Calibration ID's. Specifically:
    • Engine and ECT - 34705200
    • Hybrid Control - 899834712301, 899814707001, 899814707002, 899814711001, and 899814707004
    • HV Battery - 898904708000
Is anyone familiar with what a Calibration ID is and what these numbers refer to? Would it be safe to assume they're a reference to some manufacturer specific calibration sections / procedures / bulletin? Vehicle isn't exhibiting any problems and it doesn't appear these calibrations are critical to the operation of the vehicle.

Regarding the HV battery...two years ago we replaced a couple of the individual cells and reading the live HV battery data shows the battery appears to be in great shape. Could we need a calibration because we replaced a couple of the cells?

If something needs to be calibrated to bring it back into peak operational condition it might be something she'd want to do.

Thoughts, comments, suggestions? Car has 183K miles on it.

The calibration ID is like the software version of a particular ECU. Leave those alone unless you have a licensed copy of Toyota Techstream.

Thanks Patrick. It sounds as if there is nothing that needs to be done and I will leave these alone.

    I would not say that....

The calibrations are CAREFULLY tailored software programs for each module and they ARE CRITICAL to the proper operation.

Short answer is no. Longer answer is that the software calibration *may have* been updated by Toyota since the vehicle was built, but just as with Win 2000, Vista, 8..., newer is not NECESSARILY batter ;)

Based on multiple PC members, seems like off-board charging/equalization is the best bang-for-the-buck.

Thanks all the feedback on this. The take away is to leave them alone and that's just what I'm going to do.
