    Governor Brown today signed SB853, the bill which includes the provision to increase the number of green HOV stickers to 55,000.

    As a budget trailer bill, it took effect upon signing.

    Thanks for posting. It seems like no media outlet has picked up this information yet.

    The premium for the HOV sticker may have ended, but likely so have the heavy discounts created because there were no new stickers available - forcing dealers to discount to move sitting inventory.

    So with this bill being signed in, where can we go to grab a sticker?

    I'm sorry, but I'm really confused. I searched CA SB 853 and it is some kind of health care act...

    Yeah, I got that too-dating back to 2003, I think. But if you go to the budget bill that the governor signed, it's listed there. Problem is wading through all the jargon and mumbo-jumbo to read what is actually going on. Seems to me it shouldn't take a law degree to figure out what our elected representatives are up ti in Sacto or DC.:confused:

    Mail your application to THE ADDRESS LISTED AT THE TOP OF FORM REG 1000. I sent mine in last week. I recommend doing so without delay, and don't forget to include the $8 check!

    :confused::eek:

    This is poor advice. The application is REG 1000 from CA DMV, not CARB, and clearly states that is to be sent to the DMV address listed at the top of the form. Google "CA HOV sticker application" and look for the DMV link that mentions the application by number.

    1000 apologies. Of course, you should send the form to the address listed on it, and not just write CARB on the envelope. I'll correct my previous post to reflect this egregious error.

    The ARB page has been revised to state "Per budget trailer bill, SB 853 (Statutes 2014, chapter 27), the green decal limit has been increased by 15,000 stickers effective July 1, 2014. "

    The actual language of the bill (at the end) says "This act ... shall take effect immediately," which would have been June 20. July 1 is the start of the fiscal year. I don't know which is correct, but at this point we're talking about the difference between Monday and Tuesday.

    DMV is again cashing the $8 checks for green HOV stickers, according to a couple of reports on the Volt board. So apparently it's back to business as usual.

    Awesome! I wonder if they're actually going through the queue in first-come order, or if it's fairly random. I sent my application three weeks ago (June 9th), I'll keep an eye on when my check gets cashed and provide updates.

    When they were running out, DMV said they were keeping applications "in cue"(sic).
