I got 48 MPG my last tank. Since then, it's snowed here and been in the high 20s. I've gone 210 miles and have 4 bars left.
I hear ya, mate. I'm struggling to get 50 MPG on this tank with my regular driving patterns. I got up to 55 MPG with one long trip in city traffic but the next day we had a substantial snow storm and traffic on my regular commute was horrid. I ended up loosing what I had gained. It has warmed up again so hopefully that'll help.
Aren't you glad your previous vehicle didn't have a Multi-Display? Not knowing (ignorance) really is bliss.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(john1701a @ Oct 28 2006, 01:56 PM) </div> I think most people intuitively know, or should know, that MPG go down in the winter. My Bonneville didn't have one and I could tell I got worse mileage. Still even with it going down, it's nice to know what it is.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(prius biker @ Oct 28 2006, 02:21 PM) </div> True. But few ever crunch the numbers like the hoards of people who put Prius under a microscope. There is definitely a heightened awareness associated with Prius.
My CAN-View has added even another layer to my "lack of ignorance"....this morning I literally saw my ICE temp drop from 157 degrees to 132 degrees during a single glide period of about 1/2-3/4 mile....the ICE started up while I was stopped, after a glide, solely to warm the ICE...very odd and frustrating after working hard with the glide to push the mileage up.... Gotta find a way to keep the ICE from cooling down....
[attachmentid=5532]if this is winter gas bring it on as I just pulled down the best tank ever in my Classic. 4.4 liters per hundred for 740 km that works out to 53.4 mpg US for 460 miles. 64.2 imperial gallon. I love this car!
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Frank Hudon @ Oct 29 2006, 05:07 PM) </div> pssh you and your block heater .. are you using a winter front as well or one of those that minimise heat loss from the engine?
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Frank Hudon @ Oct 29 2006, 06:06 PM) </div> The current one is still standard for a compact (and better than a midsize). I know for a fact cause on one street, I can do a U-turn with our Corolla but I have to back up and do a 3-pt with the Camry. The Prius can do a U-turn on that same street in one sweep so ha
the Classic still turns a meter tighter that the G2. I know I drive them both. And we're off topic again.
true.. so it's just ridiculously tight. Anyway, I'm at 5.0L/100km at this tank (130kms in). Ouch! too many short trips over the weekend. And it's supposed to drop below freezing tonight?
nice! now drop the temp to freezing and try again. I'd love to have the OAT at 60F again. Not till May
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Frank Hudon @ Oct 31 2006, 10:16 PM) </div> Well the Pineapple Express is blowing through and it was 66 today, in a driving rain, roads under water but I am still at 57 for this tank with radiator blocker and Block Heater.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(hdrygas @ Nov 6 2006, 09:10 PM) </div> nice.. the rain didn't do it for me but I'm still at 50mpg.
I was out in the east end of the valley and that trip out and back just killed my mileage what with the downpour and the 70-90Kmh winds. The water on the hiway must have been 20-30mm's deep the whole way out and back. Now standing at 5.2 and I'm 550 km into the tank so it'll never go down from hear.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Frank Hudon @ Nov 6 2006, 09:54 PM) </div> I'm doing my best to repair the damage to the mileage my sister-in-law caused on a trip from Nanaimo to Victoria where she drove. I'm till learning to drive the thing myself - had it for about one month now. Managing to hold on to 5.2 this week with most of the tank to go. I'm hoping I can get it down to 5.0 like I had last tank.
