Bush Seeks Funding Boost for Hydrogen Cars

    Bush is still clueless. He wants to spend money reseaching hydrogen cars when he could have authorized stricter MPG requirements and emission standards. Hybrid technologoy is available now and is practical while Hydrogen cars are years away and there is still the problem with generating the Fuel cells and hydrogen.

    I respectfully disagree. Bush is indeed planning ahead by looking well into the future with his hydrogen car initiative. Yes, that will be later. That's why NOW we enjoy what we already have...the Prius. US automakers are falling behind for now. But may I ask? What if 20 years ago, we had a president with enough vision to have started a bold initiative to research and develop hybrid or electric cars? We can only imagine how far ahead of Japanese auto makers the U.S. would now be...if years ago we had a visionary who was not afraid to invest in the future. One of our PriusChat members has a "signature" that says TIME FLIES LIKE AN ARROW. Now don't get me wrong. I AGREE we (the U.S.) need bold moves in technologies that are NOW available. We DO need to ASAP reduce our dependance on petroleum. But can't we agree that we must start developing (now) technologies that will eliminate any use of fossil fuel. That would be hydrogen, my friend. And with only water as an emission. We do live in the present but must plan for the future as well. Maybe "Dubya" is doing the right thing for our future? Maybe we can plan for the future as well as improving our current technologies. Let's do both! But let's not call a person with a vision & fantastic initiative "clueless" because it's not going to immediately help us. For now, I enjoy my Prius. U.S. auto makers will soon catch up in the hybrid area. They have no choice! Otherwise they loose huge shares of the market. But let's (also) position ourselves well for the future. Be it a Republican, Democrat or otherwise; hats off to a politician who can see past immediate gratification and make solid plans for the future founded on solid principles.

    ...granted, we can surf the web and find positive and negative news on hydrogen cars. The same can be said for electric cars, hybrid or otherwise. What is my fuel of choice RIGHT NOW??? I think I'll have a Bud Light.
