I keep seeing these plastic panels bubbling as if it had clearcoat that was peeling off.

Is this a known issue. Wrapping might help, but the vinyl might not smooth over where the bubbling is and it might even cause it to peel?

Anyone have experience with this.... upload_2021-11-14_15-30-40.png The other one was much worse. The pics of the car were photoshopped.

I am trying to get a 2016-2017 prius... and am probably going to have to fix one up. This is a common issue I see. Hoping someone can help shed some light. Rpowers47 had a good post on wrapping them.

Have you tried your dealer, I believe some people got replacements FOC.

Talked to a parts guy today... neither he nor the svc guy said anything about it.

They cost about $140 at the dealer. You have to break them to get them off...

They are easily removable without any damage. Just pull them forward from the back edge. I found replacement panels on eBay for about $50 each. Easy fix!

Vinyl wrapping them might give a better looking surface. Plasti-dip won't have that smoothness.

I have to askā€¦ Why did the design of the car include these in the first place? They serve no purpose, they are failing, and IMHO Look stupid anyway. On the same topic most of the trim pieces around the windows look bad, and in the long run are destined for failure. Oh well.
