These Prius have a BSM Blind Spot warning feature. It is in the computer and visible on the side mirrors. One thing I am not sure of: Does the car need to have the dots on the bumpers to have this feature?

I saw a manual that showed hidden boxes behind the bumper.

Does anyone have this BSM feature where the car does not have the dot sensors in the bumpers?

The radar modules for the BSM are in the panels just behind the rear wheels.

I had a parking lot accident and sideswiped that area. Although there was hardly any external damage the panel bowed in enough to contact the radar module so that it needed to be replaced. A large portion of the rear of the car needs to be removed to access the modules. It cost about $4,000 and 6 weeks altogether to repair.

I don't know what you mean by the "dots".

There are ultrasonic sensors in the bumpers for parking, they are not used for the BSM though. They don't have enough range.

We had a 2019 CHR Limited and it had the blind spot monitor BSM and we had no dots sensors etc.

To have BSM you definitely need to have the BSM indicators on the mirrors - as that's where they light up. From reading the owner manual, it seems like park assist and blind spot monitoring uses the same sensors. Also checking the trim levels (for US, NZ, and JP), at least for ZVW50, no clue how this changed for 51 - indeed park assist and blind spot monitoring always seems to be bundled together and only really available on higher level trims.

As far as "the dots" specifically. Mine has "the dots". The more mid-level JDM "S" trim I looked at had no BSM (and no dots). A mid-level NZ GX Touring trim I looked at also had no BSM and no dots. Haven't seen one in person (AFAIK), but per this NZ brochure, the ZR trim which is listed as having BSM is pictures with no dots - https://www.toyota.co.nz/globalassets/documents/brochures/2016/prius-brochure-04-16.pdf

TL;DR - Inconclusive. Although if I had to guess, a car "with dots" most likely has BSM. Although sounds like it might be possible to have BSM without the dots, too.

    I'm afraid I must disagree.

The BSM does not use the same sensors as the Park Assist.

The BSM uses radar situated just behind the rear wheels. The Park Assist uses the ultrasonic sensors behind the "Dots". They may be bundled together in many packages. My 2017 Prius level 4 has both.

Damn it you're right. I confused it with

However, I will confirm I just clicked through a bunch of listings and only found park assist on models with the dots.
