The blue arrow is the broken stud that is used as a guide to place the oil pan then bolt it down. The red arrow is the snapped bolt that is stuck inside the threads. I may have messed up the threads already with a drill bit while attempting to remove the snapped bolt however I am unsure since there were only a few threads exposed. What do you recommend? Will using a bunch of RTV prevent oil leaking?
Myself, I would use a small grinding stone in a Dremel tool to make a divot in the center of the broken fastener. Then drill slowly with a new 1/8" bit to make a pilot hole. If it is centered then go up to whatever size for tapping the threads. Also see what a helicoil kit goes for. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
